Seymour took a close loss and a hefty one in two Bay Conference softball games.
Seymour traveled to Hortonville on April 15 and lost an exciting game. Seymour jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Karissa Rettler singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. Whitney Leisgang then sacrificed with one out. Olivia Danforth hit a booming sacrifice fly to left center to drive in Karissa. Caty Socwell singled and moved to second on another wild pitch. Michelle Brill promptly drove her in with a single to right.
The score remained 2-0 in favor of the visiting Thunder until the bottom of the third. With two outs a fly ball to left was misplayed. After back to back walks loaded the bases, Hortonville catcher Breanna Immel cleared the bases with a triple to right center field. It was Hortonville’s first hit of the game.
The host Polar Bears got their other hit in the bottom of the fifth with a one out single from Kelsey Uhlenbrauck.
Karissa Rettler reached base all three times for the Thunder as she walked in the third and singled again in the fifth. Maggie Blohm took the tough luck loss for the Thunder who wereplaying their sixth game in six days. Blohm allowed two hits and three unearned runs while striking out three and walking three.

Shawano traveled to Seymour on April 20 for a Bay Conference matchup halted after five innings. Shawano had 14 hits and was aided by seven Seymour errors as well.
Whitney Leisgang doubled in the first and Courtney Banker singled in the third for the only hits Seymour could muster off Shawano starter Liz Zimmerman. Blohm was the starting pitcher for the Thunder and took the loss on the mound. With the loss, Seymour stands at 1-4 in the conference standings and 4-7 overall.
