Work to begin on WIS 47

Construction work on 17.4 miles of WIS 47 between Burdick Street in Black Creek and WIS 29 at Bonduel in Outagamie and Shawano counties is scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 1.
The project will detour motorists via WIS 54, WIS 55 and WIS 29, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Northeast Asphalt of Appleton is the prime contractor for the $9.4 million project. Crews will resurface the highway with asphalt, construct northbound and southbound passing lanes, replace culvert pipes, flatten shoulder slopes and reconstruct the intersections at Outagamie County VV and WIS 156.
Traffic impacts in 2010 include:
•WIS 47 will be closed between WIS 54 (Black Creek) and WIS 29 (Bonduel). Motorists will be detoured via WIS 54, WIS 55 and WIS 29.
•The WIS 47/156 intersection will be closed from early September to early October 2011. During this closure, traffic will be detoured via WIS 55, Outagamie County VV, Outagamie County F and WIS 187.
•Work is scheduled for completion by December 2010.
In spring 2011, work will resume on WIS 47 between Burdick and Willow Street in the village of Black Creek. Traffic impacts in 2011 include:
•The highway will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter flagging operations during daylight hours.
•Construction is scheduled for completion in June 2011.
Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
