From the Mayor’s Desk

Hi…. Well as you can see the box culvert project, coordinated by the State on Main Street, has started and it probably will be under construction most of the summer. The building next to Sissy’s probably won’t come down until the middle of summer.
The election is over and so our new Council will consist of Mayor Judy Schuette, current Aldermen Mike Blohm, Gary Spaulding and Roger Behnke. The new Aldermen are Ryan Kraft, Pat Krull and Alex Tetzlaff. The current Council will have their last meeting on April 10 at 7 p.m. I would like to thank Alderpersons Darlene Werner and Ann Huettl-Samson for all their work and support given to our community, it truly was appreciated. It is not always easy to make the hard decisions that have to be made to have our community grow, but it is nice to be a part of making decisions that will make Seymour a great place to live and raise our families in.
I met with Chief Buntrock and Sergeant Schultz to go over applications for the hiring of a part-time Police Officer. It’s really hard to get an officer with some experience to work part-time but we did receive a few and we narrowed it down to three. We interviewed them last Friday and will see where it goes.
It looks like they will be doing the electrical work in City Hall the last part of May and so the clerk’s office will be closed for three days as there will be no power. I will be letting you know when that will be for sure when it gets closer.
The city will start picking up brush again on Monday the 17th of April and from the looks of things I think we are all looking forward to that.
Guess that’s about it for now.

Mayor Judy Schuette
