Earth Day at Fallen Timbers Environmental Center

Earth Day was a good day for Fallen Timbers Environmental Center as more than 40 volunteers joined together for the spring work day. The beautiful weather brought volunteers of all ages including three members of last year’s Run for the Timbers School Challenge winning middle school team.
We hope many 3rd – 8th grade students are thinking ahead and getting their teams together for this year’s challenge. Kohl’s Department Store sent 5 volunteers through their Associates in Action program, along with a generous donation.
The list of things to get done included cleaning out buildings, assembling new equipment, power washing exteriors, cleaning totes, organizing ski equipment, repairing fencing around trees, and the never-ending picking up sticks, raking, and pulling weeds. So there was something for everyone.
The Friends of Fallen Timbers provided snacks and a picnic lunch to all who were able to stay through the lunch hour.
We’re hoping for another great turnout for the fall work day in September as we prepare the trails for another school year and the 6th annual Run for the Timbers on October 1st.
Keep track of the Friends of Fallen Timbers on Facebook or check out our website and come join the fun.
