Seymour Legion to begin regional play

The Seymour Post 106 Legion team went 1-2 over the past week, dropping its season record to 4-8.
Post 106 continues its strong offensive output with a team batting average of .314, and an on base percentage of .396 through 12 games.
Trevor Cornell leads the team with a .454 batting average, followed by Justin Krull at .421 and David Michaelson at .392.
The team has struggled with its defense, committing 27 errors and giving up 21 unearned runs.
Seymour will begin regional play on Wednesday, July 19, with a 5:30 p.m. game against 2016 State AA Champion Menasha. All regional games will be played at Koslo Field in Menasha. The 6-team Regional also includes Hortonville, New London, Waupaca and Kaukauna. The winner of the regional will advance to the AA State Tournament at Merrill.

After falling behind 2-0 through four innings, Post 106 scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead into the top of the seventh inning, and needed three outs to secure the win.
With two outs and the bases loaded, Bayport’s Jake Hebert lined a single into left field driving in two runs. Bayport would take a 6-3 lead after a throwing error and wild pitch brought in two more runs.
Seymour scored two runs in their half of the seventh inning on a walk and two hits, but the game ended with a deep fly to centerfield.
This was the fourth game this season that Post 106 has lost in the final innings.
New London 4

After leading the game 2-1 through 5 ½ innings, the Seymour defense committed two costly errors in the bottom of the sixth inning, leading to three unearned runs for New London during their Western Division game of the Fox River Valley Legion on July 11.
Post 106 put two men on base in the top of the 7th inning, but was unable to drive them home and went down to defeat by a final score of 4-2.
All four of the New London runs were unearned.
Seymour pounded out 11 hits on the night, but stranded 12 men on base.

Austin Marcks pitched a complete game, earning his third victory of the Legion summer season, on July 9.
Marcks has only given up a total of three earned runs during league play, while striking out 19. Post 106 scored three runs in the first inning to take a 3-1 lead.
David Michaelson then hit a 3-run HR in the third inning to stake Seymour to a 6-1 lead, and the eventual win.
Sam Blank and Trevor Balthazor each had two hits on the day.
