The celebration continues as the City of Seymour recognizes the designation as the official Home of the Hamburger on August 11 – 12 with its 29th annual festival.
Burger Fest 2017 “Happy Days” kicks off on Friday, August 11, with the hot air balloon rally at Rock Ledge School and Park, starting at dusk.
“The choreographed glow will happen following the balloons flight on Friday and Saturday,” said Steve Kemp, president of Home of the Hamburger board.
An additional bouncy house has been added at Rock Ledege, plus five more on the grounds.
“We want to make this a family, friendly atmosphere,” Kemp said of the bouncy house expansion.
The 5K Bun Run starting at 8 a.m. begins Day 2 of the celebration. The run is followed by the World’s Largest Hamburger Parade at 11 a.m.
This year’s parade not only features three high school bands, Seymour, Pulaski and Freedom, but also the Badger Band.
“The most asked questions are about the giant ketchup slide,” Kemp said. Registration for this competition is available on the grounds with a 4:30 p.m. start date.
The burger eating contest starts at 2 p.m. followed by the serving of the 190 pound Giant Hamburger.
