Candidates file papers for April 3 election

Five incumbents have filed declaration of candidacy papers and required forms for seats on the Seymour City Council.
They are:
• Alderman Ryan Kraft who’s running for mayor
• Alderman Michael Blohm, Wards 1 and 2
• Alderman Roger Behnke and Ryan Kinney, Wards 3 and 4
• Alderman Patrick Krull, Wards 5 and 6
All of the candidates are running unopposed.
Mayor Judith Schuette isn’t seeking re-election.
Kraft currently serves as alderman in Wards 1 and 2.
City Clerk/Treasurer Lori Thiel said there are two openings in Wards 3 and 4.
Declaration of candidacy papers and required forms were returned by 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Kraft must obtain 50 signatures to run for mayor. Aldermen must get 20 signatures to run in the election.
The spring election will be April 3.
The mayor and aldermen each serve two-year terms on the council.
School board
Two incumbents on the Seymour Community School District Board of Education have filed declaration of candidacy papers and required forms.
They are Laurie Bowers, board vice president, and Paula Rohm, board clerk.
Both are running unopposed for three-year terms in the spring election.
