Chief Boys win Regionals

Shiocton 83, Crivitz 47
The Shiocton Chiefs had little trouble wrapping up the WIAA Division 4 Regional title with an 83-47 win over Crivitz on Saturday, March 3.
“The key was our defense to begin the game,” Coach Chad Schmidt said. “We like to pressure teams and to get their clock going in their heads. They get a little quicker than they should.” The Chiefs forced several early turnovers and gained a lead, putting Shiocton up by 16 in the first half. The other piece of the victory was good shooting. “We shot 50 percent from the floor but we shot well early on and took control early.” The Chief shot 9-for-22 beyond the arc and had only 12 turnovers.
The Chiefs had five players in double digits led by Austin VanDenBosch with 20; Corbin Lorge 15, Derek Bedor 14, Jack Fielding 12 and Matt Peterson 10. Wesley Brouillard added 8 and Deven Bedor 4.
The Chiefs finish the season with an 18-5 record.
