DI Divas at DQ Match Night

The DI Divas (Destination Imagination) are a team of seven dynamic young ladies from Rock Ledge Intermediate School who have qualified for Global Finals at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
The team placed at both Regional and State Competitions this spring to earn their bid to the international competition, May 22-26.
The DI Divas are fourth and fifth grade girls in their first year of DI, and have competed amongst teams that have been in DI for several years. The team will be one of 1,400 teams representing 45 states and 14 countries from around the globe. The girls’ coach is Todd Lowney, who has both taught fourth Grade and coached DI at Rock Ledge School for the last 20 years.
With the support from Dairy Queen and our community, the proceeds from the Match Night will help cover registration and expenses. ALL fees and expenses to attend and compete at Global Finals are the sole responsibility of the students, chaperones and families.
DI, or Destination Imagination, is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, curiosity and courage through academic Challenges.
The Challenges blend STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education with art and social entrepreneurship. Students who participate in DI learn invaluable 21st century skills as well as patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative learning process.
Come out and meet these phenomenal kids and support this once in a lifetime event! The Destination Imagination team at Rock Ledge Intermediate is raising funds to send the team to the global finals in Knoxville, Tenn. – Submitted photo
