Jamee Slater of Shiocton now owns Studio 54 Coffee Bar and Hair Salon.
She was a stay at home mom but she said she always wanted to do something on her own and when the opportunity arrived, she and her husband jumped on it.
Slater’s husband Jan, works for Michels, out of Brownsville, Wisconsin as a welder and usually is out of town for most of the summer. They have two children, Emersyn is 2 1/2 and Sienna is 5 months old.
Slater said, “The opportunity just sort of fell in our laps, the timing was right and the business is just a short walk from our house.”
She’s not a hair stylist but she does do fake eyelashes. It’s a process, Slater said, “I add single eyelashes to the clients existing ones which make them fuller. They will last for two to three weeks depending on how you take care of them. Then, after two or three weeks you come back and have them filled in. It’s great waking up in the morning and not having to put make-up (mascara) on.”
Studio 54 offers more than just a hair salon, they offer espresso coffees, smoothies, and some baked goods. The plan for the future is Real Fruit Smoothies and more products with organic ingredients. They also have a stand up tanning bed.
Slater’s goals are to remodel the place eventually and to add more seating.
She currently has four stylists plus the coffee bar employees and has two open chairs available for stylists to rent.
The whole experience is surreal as you walk in to a bar-style atmosphere with the hair stylists and tanning booth in the back of the building.
So if you like specialty coffees, i.e., Frappes, iced, or regular espresso drinks and/or need a haircut, or thicker eyelashes stop in and say hi to Jamee and her staff at Studio 54 in Shiocton on Highway 54.
Walk-ins are welcome.
