Seymour Cross Country runs in Freedom invitational

Over Labor Day weekend, the Seymour cross country team participated in the Freedom Invitational.
The Seymour runners felt a competitive spirit as they faced runners from 17 different teams. The Seymour runners were excited to get a feel for the Freedom course because it is the same course they will be running for the sectional meet at the end of the season. As a team, the Seymour boys ranked 12th out of 17 and the girls also took 12th in the team standings. The top three boy runners for the Thunder were senior Riley Volkman who took eightth running a 17:13, sophomore Blake Linsmeyer who took 48th running a 18:54 and sophomore Riley Clement who took 62nd running a 19:41. The top three girl finishers for the Thunder where senior Laura Spaude who took 26th running a 21:59, senior Paige Weyer who took 48th running a 23:38 and junior Diahanna King who took 71st running a 24:54.
Among the Thunder junior varsity runners the fastest freshman was Gunner Weyer who took second running a 18:08. The other top JV runners were freshman, Jacob Woldt who took 19th running a 20:06 and sophomore Will Warner who took 82nd running a 23:00. The top three JV girls were sophomore, Veda Butters who took 42nd running a 27:54, junior Barbara Petzold who took 43rd running a 28:01 and junior Lila Kilsdonk who took 54th running a 28:36.
