Although the Lady Thunder basketball team fought hard it wasn’t enough to pull out a win in week one of non-conference matchups.
The week started with the home opener against Ashwaubenon. The night started strong for the Thunder but after a scoring drought went into halftime with a 15-28 deficit.
While strong shooting from Chloe Evans and Dinah King along with strong offensive rebounding to cut the Jaguars lead to eight it wasn’t enough and Ashwaubenon topped the Thunder 39-44.
Seymour was hoping to bounce back on the road against Preble but the Hornets thought otherwise.
The Lady Thunder were led by Kaiah Baumgart and Evans and the team used their scrappiness to their advantage to pick up second chance points off of offensive boards.
Seymour went into halftime with just 15 on the board while Prebles Duffney and Renard combined for 32 of their 42 first half points and would prove to hurt Seymour down the stretch.
Although this young Thunder team would find their groove in the second half, the Hornets would hold them to just 13 second half points and top the Thunder 71-28.
