The Little Chute varsity wrestling team visited the Shiocton High School on Thursday, Nov. 29.
The wrestling match started out really well for the Chiefs after Jared Janke got a pin on Adam Kilgas after multiple periods and Brady Volkman did the same against Little Chute’s Steven Haack.
After a couple of pins and a couple of forfeits, Shiocton led the match 24-6. Jaden Dorn kept the Mustangs from getting any other points on the board and pinned his opponent Ezekiel Stoll making the board read 30-6 in favor of the Chiefs.
Tyler Hess was now up against his opponent Matthew Janssen. The Mustangs’ Matthew Janssen added to Little Chute’s scoreboard after a pin on Tyler Hess taking the points up to 30-12. Trevor Wright (Shiocton), Logan Verboomen (Little Chute), and Carter Kruckerberg (Little Chute) all took a forfeit. Shiocton was up 36-24 and Shiocton’s Sam Flannery was taking on Noah Kilgas. Three periods and multiple whistle blows later, Kilgas got the pin on Flannery and took the match up to a six point difference. Shiocton’s Ethan Flannery was up against Lucas Reader and Ethan Flannery did just what he needed to do to earn Shiocton a victory. Two other forfeits occurred and gave Shiocton the win in the end 48-30.
Little Chute’s varsity wrestling is coached by Todd Verboomen and consists of 18 wrestlers.
