Shiocton choir students perform for March Music Month

Shiocton choir students performed their solos for the school board on Monday, March 18. Choral teacher Christine Anderson accompanied them on the piano. Parents, family and guests were also invited to the event.

The Shiocton School Board met at 6 p.m. on March 18 in the Library Media Center of the Shiocton Schools.
March is Shiocton’s music month so choir students sang their solo performances for the board. All of the students performed well and the board, guests and parents enjoyed their presentation.
Board Member Trustee Mindy Hofacker attended the “Day at the Capitol” and gave the board a summary of her experience. Although one speaker was negative Hofacker said she enjoyed the day and left with positive views as well.
The board took action and accepted the donation from Voith Paper for the paper felt that will protect the gym floor in the multi-purpose facility where the batting cages are located. This donation was greatly appreciated from the board and superintendent Nichole Schweitzer.
The board approved the transportation request for the Shepard family for bussing the children to the Shiocton school district.
They approved the hiring of Tanna Spencer for the Shiocton child care center assistant.
In new business the board took action to designate the Technical Excellence Higher Education Scholar to Ethan Flannery and the Academic Excellence Higher Education Scholar went to Leigha Young.
In upcoming events the S.P.I.C.E. (Shiocton Partners In Children’s Education) free movie night is Saturday, March 30, at 4 and 7 p.m.
School board Spring election is Tuesday, April 2.
S.P.I.C.E. monthly meeting is Wednesday, April 3 at 6 p.m.
Election canvass meeting is Thursday, April 4 at 3:15 p.m
Shiocton Wrestling Club Corn Hole Tournament is Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at the River Rail.
The next school board meeting is April 8 in the LMC.
