The Ranch Bar and Grill in Nichols (formerly Roosters) is under new management and open in Nichols.
Rachel and Chris Kennedy are the proud owners of The Ranch.
Rachel had been working at Roosters for a little over a year when the opportunity arose for her to lease the building from the lady that owns it. Kennedy said, “I’ve been here for such a long time, I just feel comfortable here so my customers really cheered me on to make this happen, everyone really stood behind me so I felt like I couldn’t fail.”
Her husband was a huge support for her when she would get anxious, by giving her pep talks like she was going to be fine, just do it, you’re awesome and wonderful and you can do this.
Rachel and Chris did a lot of updates to the bar, a lot of cleaning and redecorating to make it their own. They resurfaced the bar’s counter-top with some close friends all by hand and it turned out looking great.
They plan to keep updating and replacing things as needed.
Rachel and Chris live on a farm in Seymour with their seven children. Sarah, 18, John 15, Summer 14, Scarlett 14, Olivia 11, Junior, 8 and Beau 5.
Chris works full time as a lead man at Fox Cities Builders. The family raises beef heifers, they sell some and just recently decided to keep some for meat for themselves. They also raise a couple of pigs and have chickens and ducks.
The family has horses, Rachel said, “My daughters are into barrel racing and my husband and I like to go trail riding and enjoy driving cattle sometimes just for fun.”
Kennedy said she was fortunate that most of her staff stayed with her in the transition. She said, “It has been an amazing road we’ve been on, seeing all the new faces come in, watching old customers come back to visit us, and everyone applauding all the work that we’ve done.
“It’s been a long road but it’s been a good one. Some days are harder than others but you do what you have to do.”
The Ranch offers Take-Out for all their items.
Pizzas (either Take and Bake or baked to go. They also have a 10 inch (personal size) gluten free and carb friendly cauliflower pizza crust.
Kennedy said they will host fun events for the community, to name a few, painting class, volleyball tournaments and a one man band.
