Four Thunder Champs Move On

The Seymour Thunder wrestling squad was able to advance four wrestlers to the WIAA Division 2 Sectional this Saturday, February 22, at Oconto Falls.

All four qualifers won regional championships at the Oconto Falls regional last Saturday.

“I am proud of the effort given by the Seymour wrestlers at Regionals,” said Thunder head coach Mark Schmoll. “The four champions wrestled outstanding and earned the right to compete this Saturday at Sectionals for an opportunity to qualify for the state tournament.”

Wyatt Kaczrowski scored the first points in his 113 pound finals match against Oconto Fall’s wrestler Brendan Konitzer, who is ranked ninth in the state. Kaczrowski led the rest of the match and ended with a final score of 8-1.

Ryan Tomazevic got a pin in his 120 pound semifinal match and shut out his finals opponent Jaden Ganter of Oconto Falls 6-0 in a decisive victory.
Noah Gorecki outscored Luke Trepanier of Oconto Falls in their 126 finals match 10-4 in another comfortable win.

Samuel Dudley earned the fourth title of the day for Seymour with a much closer 6-3 final over Jaden Schoeneck of Antigo in the 138 pound bracket.
Blake Linsmeyer (132 pounds), Colin Leisgang (145 pounds) and Joe Dey (195 pounds) were all one place away from qualifying for Sectionals with third place finishes in their weight classes.
