Andy Coenen, 27, a former special education teacher and coach in the Michicot schools pleaded not guilty to one felony count of attempted sexual exploitation of a child.

Coenen, who now lists a Black Creek address, was charged on Dec. 19, 2019 and entered the plea on Thursday, March 5 in Outagamie County Circuit Court. A status conference has been scheduled for March 25.

According to the criminal complaint, Officer Brandon Shew of the Sturgeon Bay Police Department reports that on November 30, 2019, he began an undercover internet crimes against children (ICAC) investigation utilizing an online dating application, assuming the identity of a 15-year-old boy. At 4:34 p.m., an individual sent Officer Shew a message and a conversation followed. The conversations continued into December and Coenen is accused of asking the “boy” for nude photos of himself.

Seymour police executed a search warrant at Coenen’s home on Dec. 4 and during the search Coenen admitted he knew the person he was contacting was a minor, according to the criminal complaint.
