New Seymour officer hired

John Fuller has been hired as the city’s newest full-time police officer. He replaces Kyle Kubacki who resigned at the end of December. Fuller has been serving as a part-time officer.

Rock Ledge Intermediate and Seymour Middle School teams are coming up with unique ways to solve a problem as the 2012 Destination Imagination competition begins next month.

Black Creek Lions held pancake breakfast on Sunday, Jan. 8, at the Black Creek School. The club accepted donations of non-perishable items for the Salvation Army. Proceeds from the breakfast will go to help fund community service projects.

One arrested after weapon incident in Black Creek

Bradley M. Mielke, 33, 204 S. Maple St., Black Creek, has been charged with one misdemeanor count of operating a firearm while intoxicated and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct after he was arrested early Sunday, Feb. 12. Mielke allegedly showed up with a loaded weapon at a disturbance in the village.

According to Police Chief Lowell James, a disagreement at a bar outside of the village spilled over into the village.

The Seymour Thunder is the No. 3 seed in the WIAA Division 2 Regional, which starts on Friday, March 2. Seymour will face No. 6 seed Ashwaubenon.

The Shiocton Chiefs are seeded No. 3 in the WIAA Regional playoffs which begin Friday, March 2. The Chiefs will face the winner of the Feb. 28 game between No. 6 seed Crivitz and No. 11 seed Manawa.

Seymour to send three to state wrestling meet, Shiocton two

Thunder wrestlers Mark Dessart (132) and Alex Schramm (138) won WIAA sectional titles Saturday and Dylan Drephal (126) placed second at Waupaca and will represent Seymour at the WIAA State Wrestling Meet beginning Thursday in Madison.

Chiefs wrestlers Austin Riehl (120) placed second at the WIAA Division 3 sectional in Auburndale, as did Zech Riehl (160) and will travel to Madison to represent Shiocton.
