<p>The gift that keeps on giving.
That’s how one would perhaps describe Betty Schroeder as she keeps giving of her time to help the Village of Black Creek become a better community.
For her dedicated volunteer service, Schroeder was named the 2012 Citizen of the Year.
Schroeder, 74, will be recognized at the Citizen of the Year banquet which will soon be announced, and also be the parade marshal during the sesquicentennial Family Daze parade on June 2 at 11 [...]]]></description>

<p>Alexa Pahlow is the recipient of the Advertiser Community News &#038; Times-Press 2012 Scholarship. She was awarded the scholarship at the Shiocton High School Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, May 9 by ACN Publisher Ken Hodgden.
Pahlow graduates ranked 12th in her class from Shiocton High School. She plans on attending the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and major in education.

<p>In exchange for a $1, all students and staff selected a ribbon of their choice. Donating a ribbon, students had permission to wear a hat for the day.  Ribbons were donated by Sarah Schaumberg, Parent Teacher Connection Treasurer, and the STARS (Students Taking Action and Representing Seymour Middle School).

		<description><![CDATA[<p>A brat fry to benefit the Pearl Harbor Honor Flight in June will be held at Colwitz’s Convenience Store in Shiocton from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 26.
Volunteers from the Hortonville-Dale Food Pantry, members from Catholic Financial Life chapters 188, 197 and 299, along with veterans from Shiocton, Black Creek and Seymour will be serving up food all day long.
World War II veterans will receive one free sandwich and all other veterans will receive $1 off each sandwich.

Family Daze Celebration June 2nd. Organizations throughout the village are working together to make this a spectacular celebration of Black Creek.

<p>Two significant injuries have struck the Lady Thunder soccer team
Coach Todd Messner has confirmed that middle players Mariah Metoxen and Brianna Messner both have suffered concussions during last weekend’s New Berlin West tournament.
In game one, Metoxen kicked a ball that ricochet off a New Berlin West player that was close to her, and struck her in the face, causing the injury.
