 Ryle O. Herman

Ryle has been a wonderful gift from the Lord, to all of us for 72 years.

On January 16, 2012, the Lord wrapped His arms around Ryle and has taken him to be with him in heaven.

Ryle went peacefully after spending five days in Appleton Medical Center. His wife, close family members and friends visited him and each were given a few words of wisdom to follow in the future. All left his room smiling, knowing with deep sadness that he would be leaving us so soon.

Ryle was born in New London Community Hospital on September 16, 1939. The son of the late Kermit and Alice (Suprise) Herman. Ryle married his Darling Dorothy on January 21, 1961, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton. He was a lifelong resident of Shiocton, WI. and St. Denis Catholic Church.

Ryle was a loving husband, proud Dad, an amazing Grandpa and loved his 3 new Great-Grand children.

He enjoyed spending time with all of them at “the bus” camping, fishing and hunting in Bowler on the land.

Loved taking care of his garden and growing huge vegetables, especially carrots and collarobi. Ryle enjoyed his yard work, watching the birds, doing woodwork and welding. Ryle had great fun being the “Cabbage Chuck” with his wife, the “Cabbage Chick” of the 2011 St. Denis Cabbage Chuck. On Sunday mornings he enjoyed Polka music from 8 to noon. Many a day found him and brother Ronald trying crock pickles or maybe he was full of smiles because he won a game of cribbage with his brother Romy. He was a lifelong member of the NRA.

Ryle grew up on his parent’s family farm in Shiocton and graduated from Shiocton High School. He worked at Jim and Joe’s garage in Appleton before starting work at Allis Chalmers / Metso Minerals and retiring after 40 years.

Calixta Mary Vosters (Schuh)

Kaukauna

Calixta was surrounded by the love of her family as she made her final journey to heaven on Saturday, December 3, 2011.  Her children were at her side in her final moments on Earth until the angels guided her to her new home where she was greeted by her husband Andrew, grandson Steve, her parents, brothers and sisters and many relatives. Calixta was born Feb. 13, 1919 in Freedom,Wisconsinthe daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Schmitt) Schuh.  On November 13, 1947, Calixta married Andrew Vosters with whom she spent the next 58 years of her life. Together they raised a family of five on their farm in the town ofGrand Chute. They spent 30 happy years on the farm, where Calixta always had home cooked meals, bread or cookies in the oven and a stocked candy box. Her love of cooking and sharing a meal is a tradition that lives on in all three of her daughters. You could never leave her house without having something to eat. Every meal ended with “Here, have more, or finish it”.  You always left feeling like you ate too much.  She always had beautiful flower gardens and a large vegetable garden while living on the farm. In 1991 Calixta and Andrew sold the farm and  built a new home where they shared many wonderful years of retirement, visiting relatives and friends and playing cards until Andrew’s passing in 2006.

Celebrating Christmas, the many birthdays and summer baseball parties were just some of the reasons to get together. Calixta and Andrew’s love grew from five children to 22 grandchildren to 28 great-grandchildren and counting. Calixta loved holding all those newborn babies. Everyone always enjoyed the molasses cookies at Mom or Grandma’s house.  Calixta loved playing cards, watching the birds, talking on the phone, and visiting with family and friends. Even as Calixta’s health failed her, she played a mean game of 500 Rummy.

Calixta’s faith was always at the center of her life. Mom and Dad would lead a daily rosary with their children as they were growing up.   They always celebrated their anniversary with Mass followed with dinner.  She was a member of St John Catholic Church in Little Chute, a past member of the St. Elizabeth Society, a lifetime member of Father Solanus Guild, the Scapular Militia and the Sacred Heart League.  She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and her rosary was always at her side.

She lived for her family, and now her spirit lives on in them.  Thanks Mom for the special life you’ve given each and everyone of us!

A special thank you to Mary’s sister Kim, a member of “Team Mary”(Mary, Bruce & Kim) who went to every appointment with her, the staff of the Seymour Community School District and the Seymour Community for all the compassion and care shown.

Mom was a beautiful, amazing, entertaining, fun loving, strong, optimistic and positive person who was the best mother we could ever have. She always kept on going and taught us to keep our chin up and to ”fight like a girl”.  We love you and you will be in our hearts forever.

Habeck, Shirley

Shirley Habeck, 74, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton.

Shirley was born on March 15, 1937 in Seymour to Ingbret and Esther (Wendt) Nelson.  Shirley was a CNA for 46 years working most recently at Gardenview Assisted Living until the time of her illness.  She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and caring for her family and friends.  She will be remembered as a beloved sister,

mother and grandmother and a devoted friend.  She was the kind of friend that everyone cherishes; she always thought of you first and herself second.

Shirley is survived by her son Gary (Julie) Erdman of Oshkosh, daughters; Amy (Dave) Mollus of Menasha, Wendy Nelson of Appleton, and Charlotte, seven grandchildren; Jared, Shannon, Amber, Andrew, Ashley, Josh, and Daniel. She is further survived by her sister Mary Ellen (Lew) Cole and one half sister and half brother and special friends Roy and Al Stohlman. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Don Habeck.

The funeral service for Shirley will be on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL at 11:00 AM with Rev. Robert Balza officiating.  A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery at 2:30 in Rio. The angels are rejoicing and singing with exceptional beauty because they have been joined by one of their own.  After a truly courageous but hopeless battle against a rare disease, Shirley quietly slipped away from us and into her life eternal.  Shirley’s family and friends would like to express their deep appreciation to the medical staffs at AMC, Mercy Medical and Peabody Manor for the expert, compassionate and loving care she received from them.

Our father was a strong, smart, caring, genuine and hardworking man.  He loved his family and would do anything to make sure they were in good hands.  He made us who we are today, to be genuine, family oriented and to be true to who we are. He was a true inspiration to all of us, we are very thankful for having such a great father.
